Active Parenting Now*

Teaches parents of children ages 5 to 11 to instill courage, cooperation, and self-esteem in their children. Families learn how to communicate effectively, promote responsibility, and avoid problems such as drugs and alcohol, violence, and poor school performance.

Active Parenting of Teens*

Teaches parents of youth age 11 and older to redefine the parent role as children move through adolescence. Topics include developing responsibility in teens, and practicing positive discipline and healthy communication skills.


Active Parenting for Stepfamilies*

Couples learn how to work together to raise children in the challenging-and often rewarding-stepfamily environment. Families will learn powerful communication and negotiation skills to strengthen marriage and family. Designed for stepparents, foster parents, adoptive parents, single parents, and others affected by loss and change.


Active Christian Parenting*

Teaches parents of 3 to 12 year-olds the tools needed to strengthen family relationships while fostering their children's faith development. Combines parenting skills with Christian values and practices.


Active Parenting for Grandparents*

Teaches grandparents to instill responsibility, cooperation, courage, and self-esteem in children/teens. Grandparents will explore issues facing families today and learn skills to build healthy relationships with adult children and grandchildren. Ideal for grandparents who are caring for their grandchildren on a regular basis.


Take Action: Bullyproofing our Kids and Our Communities

This program focuses on bullying and its effects on kids, their parents, and their communities. Topics covered in this program include advocating for kids who experience a bullying situation, how kids can empower themselves against bullying behavior, relational bullying, and cyberbullying. This course includes alcohol, tobacco, and other drug prevention components for youth.

Families in Action

Teaches parents and teens to develop strategies to prevent problems with drugs, alcohol, violence and other unhealthy behaviors. Program includes time with peers and interactive time with parents and teens.

Guiding Good Choices

An interactive parent and child (grades 4-8) course that focuses on the transition to adolescence. GGC goals include: strengthening and clarifying family expectations for behavior; enhancing conditions to promote close family relationships; and teaching skills that allow children to meet the family and community expectation to resist drug use.

Family Nurturing

A time-intensive program to nurture and educate parents and their preschool and elementary-age children. Offers parents the knowledge, helpful attitudes, and basic skills to promote healthy development of children. Includes separate classes for parents and their children, along with interactive time for playing, and a meal. Family Nurturing is funded by the Lancaster County Children and Youth Social Service Agency and is free.

Leadership Training for Mentors*

Offers participants information, skills, and resources to effectively nurture and empower others in a mentor relationship. The Bully Anti-Venom*

Learn types of bullying, ways to advocate for a child that is being bullied, and ways to confront a child that uses bullying behaviors.
